Project Overview

The Grantseeking Tracker Dashboard offers nonprofit professionals a practical, data-driven tool for managing the entire grant lifecycle. Designed in Power BI, it visualizes application status, key deadlines, funder relationships and reporting deliverables to maximize funding and compliance efficiency.

The challenge in this project was to design a dynamic and intuitive dashboard capable of managing the complexity of the entire grantseeking process for a nonprofit organization.

Data Fragmentation

With grants at various stages—from drafting to decision and payment—tracking critical deadlines, deliverables, and funder relationships required pulling these separate data points into a flexible data model and creating realistic sample datasets for demonstration.

Data Prioritization

Prioritizing the right data points is critical so that users can easily identify which deadlines, application statuses and funder deliverables required attention immediately.

The dashboard integrates grant history, current application data, documentation and payment status to provide a comprehensive overview of a nonprofit's grantseeking operations. Currently, the dashboard has formatting inspired by theguardian.org's brand.

The Guardian Version

Grant Pipeline Visualization

Easily track applications moving from drafted, submitted, approved, to declined. Status breakdowns and sortable tables highlight success rates and pipeline health.

Deadline & Deliverable Tracking

Interactive status donuts show upcoming application deadlines, required reports and payment schedules at a glance. Overdue tasks and critical dates are automatically flagged for action.

Grant Portfolio Financials

Summaries of total funding received, expected payments, and reimbursement trends support financial stewardship and forecasting. Payment receipt dates enhance transparency and audit-readiness.

Funder Relationship and Grant History Insights

Visuals link funder names with grant outcomes and deadlines, clarifying performance history and strategic partnership opportunities.

Customizable Analytics

Calculated columns (e.g., Days to Deadline) help prioritize urgent applications. Filters let users drill into specific years or statuses to inform strategic decision-making. More data points could be added as desired.
